Revamp Your Reading Nook with Art and Accessories

Updated: Aug 9

In this blog, I’m excited to share how I transformed a small corner of my home into a personalized, natural, and cozy reading nook. Using one of my oil paintings as the centerpiece, I’ve created a space that is both functional and visually pleasing.

The window provides natural light perfect for daytime reading and offers a picturesque view of a section of my garden. This allows me to immerse myself in a good book while enjoying the tranquility of my space. When evening arrives, the reading nook remains equally inviting thanks to a well-placed table lamp and a conveniently located switch that controls additional ceiling lighting.

Rather than investing in new furniture, I focused on enhancing the pieces I already had. The objective was to color-coordinate my oil painting of roses, cultivated from my garden, with the pillow that makes my Louis XV style chair more comfortable. By incorporating accessories like colorful pillows, a cozy throw blanket, and a vibrant painting, I was able to refresh the space without spending more money.

The color combination between the pink tones of the delicate petals and turquoise with the blues in the painting echo the colors of stripes of the throw pillow and blanket creating a harmonious look that highlights the beauty of my artwork. These simple additions made a significant impact on the overall décor. We don’t need new furniture to achieve a fresh and stylish update.

In decorating this reading nook, my goal was to maximize the use of a small space while seamlessly integrating elements of nature, art, and color. The result is a charming and functional area that is both visually appealing and incredibly inviting.

Here is another idea how to revamp the same reading nook space with another painting and accessory combination. This framed artwork is a print of an oil painting I made of the marina in New Smyrna Beach.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I’m eager to share more ideas and updates with you in my next post!
